Democratic Candidates for District City Council, March 2025
The following candidates won the Burlington Democrats endorsement:
South District
Ranjit "Buddy" Singh
My name is Ranjit Buddy Singh, and I’ve been a proud member of the Burlington community for over 30 years. I’m running for the South District seat on the Burlington City Council to help build a stronger, more connected community.

I live with my wife, Lauren, and our daughter, Aviv, a 4th grader at Champlain Elementary, where I’ve served as PTO President for the past three years.
I also volunteer as a soccer coach for GBGSL, serve on the Burlington Boys and Girls Club board, and spent 18 years on the Church Street Marketplace Commission (2005-2023) including many terms as Treasurer. During my tenure, I helped guide the Marketplace through major challenges such as the financial crisis and the pandemic.

Professionally, I work as a loan officer at Spruce Mortgage, where I help individuals and families navigate the housing market and understand the financial hurdles that many in our community face.
I am running for City Council because Burlington is at a crossroads and needs new voices to ensure it remains a desirable and affordable place to live.
My priorities include:
-
Public Safety: Strengthening trust and ensuring safe neighborhoods.
-
Addressing the Substance Abuse Crisis: Supporting prevention and recovery services.
-
Affordable Housing: Expanding access to homes for all income levels.
-
Economic Vitality: Growing opportunities for residents and businesses alike.

By listening to parents, professionals, students, and city employees, I’ve learned what matters most to Burlingtonians. Together, we can create meaningful change and a stronger future for our city.
